Over the past 9 months SUARTs has been campaigning hard, both locally and nationally, against raising tuition fees and cuts to arts education. To find out what we have been doing on a national level please click here.
On a local level however we have been campaigning to ensure that the University listens to students about their priorities in the coming months as budgets become stretched. |

As a result the University has agreed to include contact time as a priority in their medium term strategy, which is a huge win. However we must continue to keep the pressure up and ensure the voice of students is continued to be heard whilst this is implemented.
Read on below to find out why we are campaigning on this issue.

CAN'T CUT THIS CAMPAIGN INFO
What are we doing?
The word on the street is that contact time could be reduced to save the College money. Cuts of around 25% will be hitting education in the UK and we need to protect our most valuable resource – contact time.
It wouldn’t be acceptable in the 1980s, and it’s not acceptable now. Students have been clear that we will not accept any reduction in our contact time with tutors, lecturers, and technicians in this year or any other year.
Why are we doing this?
Students have told us that contact time is THE most important thing to them at University and is of the most benefit to their time here – it must be prioritised.
