► Be Buddied

Buddying

London is a big city and for many of you it will be your first time here, but don’t panic! We have a fantastic and dedicated group of Buddies who will show you the ropes.

Buddies are at hand to help you get to know the city, the university and the area you live in, making London that much easier for you to adjust to.

Buddied Student I just met my buddy two days back and she's been great. She showed me around and taught me stuff, even though her schedule has been really tight. This Buddying scheme is one hell of a great idea really!

 What is Buddying?

Settling in quickly and feeling comfortable is crucial to getting the most out of your studies here, as well as enjoying life in London.  The difficulties that new students experience can affect their happiness and their academic achievement.

The Buddying scheme offers new students the opportunity to be buddied by a current student at University of the Arts London.  Buddies volunteer their time to share their experiences and offer extra support for new students, in a new city, at a new and unknown stage in their life.

Buddying is not just for Pathfinding week. Different students find they need support at different times in the year - you can apply to be buddied at any time of the year and we will do our best to find a buddy for you.

 What Buddying Offers...

A Buddy is a student who has had similar experiences to you.

A Buddy can be a friendly face at your college.

A Buddy can give you tips on student life, local venues and services, and life in London.

A Buddy can point you in the direction of the different services available within Arts London.

A Buddy will meet with you during term time and be available to answer any questions you may have by email, SMS text or phone.

 What Buddying Isn't...

A Buddy is not a Mentor, and cannot help you with your work at Arts London.

Buddies are volunteers, and not able to offer you full-time support.

 How Do I Apply?

Are you enrolling at Arts London for 2010/11?  If so apply now and get yourself a Buddy to help you settle in!

Apply Now!

Please remember that you are not guranteed to be matched with a Buddy, as volunteers may not be available at the time of application.

I Want To Be A Buddy!

We always welcome applications from students wishing to be Buddies.  As students of the University, Buddies are well placed to understand the struggles new students face.

Being a Buddy is about sharing the information you wish you'd known when you first started!  It's also a great opportunity to contribute to University life, develop new skills and meet new people!

Buddied Student I feel like it's a bit more comforting to be able to talk to someone who's been through the things I've been through, and is able to help me with my problems.  Life at the University is good and I have adjusted well thanks to my Buddy.
