'The Fashion Society is a collective of students from all backgrounds to come together over a shared passion for fashion!!'

The Fashion Society, 'Don’t do fashion, be fashion......' was established last year as an innovative collective for students of all artistic (and not so) backgrounds to come together over a shared passion for fashion. Creative degrees consume so much time that it’s easy to limit yourself to one group. The fashion society provides an output for fashion lovers to blend their interests and energies to achieve great things.

The first year was far from easy; we’ve had to learn a lot very quickly, from altering knickers, to goading press officers. But the challenges make it all the more worthwhile and when Prada stole our reservation at the Double Club during LFW, we knew were doing the hottest things in town!


The Fashion Society is an excellent platform for students aiming for fashion careers to meet. The top end of fashion is a small and elite world, there are huge advantages of knowing the future press officers, designers, journalists and others that make the fashion world tick, all while you’re still studying. At at the Fashion Society we aim to do our best to close the gap or a least make it smaller!

This isn’t some cynical or false networking exercise, it’s a chance to be part of something genuine and enjoyable. Past highlights that were almost as bright as Marc Jacobs’ AW’09 Pink were: attending the CSM LFW show, Roksanda Ilincic at the V&A and the ‘blooming’ success of the charity underwear show that raised money for the Terrance Higgins Trust. Between the large events we meet up regularly at some of London’s best bars and at the close of the year we had made some great and lasting friendships.

This year we want to come back with the same vengeance as Bulmain’s shoulder pads: bigger, bolder, better.. we have plenty ideas for a range of events, workshops, talks, networking events, socials and of course our big annual statement end of year fashion show designed to get emerging creative work seen. And don't forget if you become a member of the Fashion Society, that makes it your society too! So be sure to let us know what you would like to see included in our activities and we will do our best to accommodate you, we would love to hear from you....
