► Q-ART & SUARTS

6th January 2009 3:37 pm

Set up by Sarah Rowles, a second year BA Art Practice student at Goldsmiths, Q-Art London is hosting monthly convenor events at many of the participating universities for artists to present and discuss their work in a critical peer-led environment.

The first events took place at Goldsmiths on November 17th 2008 and at Central Saint Martins on December 5th 2008. Seven artists, from Foundation, through to BA, MA, graduate and PHD level presented work in 20 minute slots to an audience of 100. Of all the feedback forms returned at each event, all were returned with positive and encouraging comments; many saying it supplemented a lack in their degree programmes.

The work of all artists who present can be seen on our website:

www.q-artlondon.com where further discussion of the work –post convenor- is invited to take place. Q-Art London strongly supports the written work of artists and writers and publishes articles for comment and discussion on the website.

Q-Art London supports its own publishing strand and will be releasing a collection of peer-reviewed articles alongside our end-of-academic year exhibition at APT Gallery in July 2009.

The next events, which are already filling up, are January 10th at APT gallery, February 13th at University of the Arts student union, March 25th at Slade School of Art and April 21st at Chelsea College of Art.

From July 1st – 4th there will be an end-of-academic-year exhibition at APT Gallery for those who presented in one of the six convenors.

NB: Q-Art London is currently self-funded. Any money raised through the selling of books raises money to support the continuation of Q-Art London, its events, marketing, website and catering costs.
